MELOTONE LOUDSPEAKER

We have been busy recently on improvements to the Melotone. The most recent is to move the giant horn loudspeaker of the Melotone unit out of the Solo Chamber and to remount it in the roof space above the organ chambers. This will mean that the sound now projects directly into the hall giving an ethereal quality to the music.
An electronic volume control has been constructed and is connected to the Solo swell pedal.

32' DIAPHONE

We have now obtained a Compton Theatre Organ 32' Diaphone, one of only two in the country.

We have rearranged the layout inside the organ chambers to make room for the (enormous) pipes. The chests have been temporarily placed into the chambers to see the fit and will be installed ready for the pipes to be mounted.

There is some controversy about the vibrations that these extremely powerful pipes will produce and we may have to get a stuctural engineer in to ensure they do not damage the listed Red Brick Barn!

TUBULAR BELLS
Tubular Bells have been mounted on the front of the organ. They are normally not seen so have a rather dull finish. We thought however that as they were to be seen it would be nice to polish them. This was very successful and the coloured stage lighting was rearranged to reflect off the bars giving a very attractive effect.
